Paul-Dominique Gourlier

1813 - 1869

A student of Corot, Goulier specialised mainly in historical landscapes, which he exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1841 to 1869. His first recorded landscape presented at the 1841 Salon shows the painters Cimabue and Giotto in an Italianate landscape and was probably inspired by the oil sketches he had made on his frequent trips to Italy.
