Palma Giovane
1554 - 1628
His name was Iacopo Palma; he was called Palma Giovane to distinguish him from his great-uncle, Palma Vecchio. He was active for nearly all his life in Venice, where he was engaged on mainly religious and historical works. On Tintoretto's death in 1594, he was the dominant painter in Venice.
