Master of the Bruges Passion Scenes
active early 16th century
The painter is called the Master of the Bruges Passion Scenes after an altarpiece showing scenes from Christ's Passion in St Sauveur, Bruges. In spite of the fact that the altarpiece includes a detail from an engraving by Dürer dated 1511, its painter has often been called the 'Bruges Master of 1500'. It was formerly ascribed to Gerard van der Meire.
