Jean-Louis-Ernest Meissonier

1815 - 1891
Meissonier was known for costume pieces, chiefly of 17th- and 18th-century subjects, mainly in a style closely modelled on Dutch painting of the 17th century. He exhibited in the Paris Salon from 1854.
