Gioacchino Assereto

Assereto was born in Genoa. In 1639 he went to Rome for a brief period and his subsequent works show that he was much impressed by the paintings of Caravaggio and his followers. His pictures are characterised by vibrant light effects and dramatic compositions. He died in Genoa.
