Francesco da Rimini (Master of the Blessed Clare)

documented 1333; died 1348
This painter was called The Master of the Blessed Clare by the scholar Zeri after the painting 'The Vision of the Blessed Clare' now in the Collection. It came from Rimini and is by a local Riminese painter. 'The Adoration of the Magi' in Florida (Lowe Art Museum, Coral Gables) is part of the same altarpiece. The altarpiece is tentatively dated around 1340 on stylistic grounds.
