Bartholomeus van Bassen
active 1613; died 1652
Van Bassen was perhaps of Flemish origin, but he is first recorded when inscribed in the Delft guild in 1613. By 1622 he had settled in The Hague, where he spent the rest of his life.
He painted church interiors and fanciful views of palaces. He was also an architect and as such worked for The Hague burgomasters from 1639.
