Jacqueline Wilson worked with Year 7 students from
Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School. Together they
focused on Degas's 'Combing the Hair'. Jacqueline
told the students how she constructs the characters
in her books and she asked them to develop personalities
for the two people in the painting. Jacqueline also
asked them to think about a third person, who could
not be seen in the picture, but who could be included
in a story. Back at school in their English lessons,
the students wrote short stories based on the work
they produced in Jacqueline's masterclass.
