'Tiger in a Tropical Storm (Surprised!)' by Henri Rousseau
This is a stormy scene with rain lashing and lightning striking across the background. In front of this, there are large trees growing straight up the left side of the painting. The trees bend across, from top left to right as if there is a strong wind blowing. A variety of different shaped leaves create patterns across the surface and the main colour of the picture is green.
In the bottom left hand corner of the painting there is a tiger crouching on the ground between some spidery looking plants. The tiger's tail is to the left and sticks straight out from the tiger's body, coiled round like a snake. The tiger's body slopes down towards the centre of the picture. This tiger has wide open eyes and bared teeth - is it scared or scary?
Can you see a tiger leaping from the grass? He looks like he's growling.
He could be frightened of the thunder. Can you see the lightning in the distance?
The howling wind is so strong it almost shakes the leaves off the trees. Can you hear the rain?
Jungles are full of animals. They are frightened of the storm and make a lot of noise.
