Opposite the entry for E C Shirley, Ettingdon Park (page 1) is an annotation: 'A sale 31 October 1946 at the house - not the better pictures'. Lot numbers for items in the sale have also been added beside individual pictures. The annotations are not by Kay, but may be in the hand of Martin Davies, Assistant Keeper of the National Gallery.
