In 1953-1954 the National Gallery published 2 volumes of a catalogue written by Davies concerning Flemish pictures of the Fifteenth century style (Les Primitifs Flamands). As these became outdated Davies began work on a third volume which was intended as a supplement to the previous two. This was published in 1970.
