Black edged letter (27 Dec 1887) from Briton Rivière to [Sir William] Agnew thanking him for a paper sent to him with an account of the gift (bestowed via Sir William Agnew) to the Whitworth Gallery, Manchester, of his painting 'Love and Death' and giving his opinions on the acquisition. Rivière relays that "some of our small fry were at Mrs Ogilvie's last week," possibly referring to Sir William Agnew's daughter Mary Caroline.
