Handwritten letter of provenance (with envelope, written from the Junior Carlton Club) from Colonel J. Richardson to [Thos. Agnew & Sons] for a portrait of Mrs Scott Moncrieff, purchased by Colonel James Wilson of Sneaton Castle from Mrs Moncrieff's brother between 1820-1830 and passed by descent to Colonel J. Richardson, who states that it the family has always believed the painting to be the work of Henry Raeburn.
