Handwritten letter (25 May 1928) from Hugh Blaker to Mr Agnew regarding his purchase of 'St John in the Wilderness' by Velasquez. Blaker encloses 'Mayer's letter' (not included) an extract from the Athenaeum (regarding a different work, "Mr. Spielmann's picture") and "notes from Bredius and Bode" (not included). Also attached is an additional extract from the Athenaeum mentioning Spielmann's picture, marked as 'The Angels appearing to the Shepherds' and provenance details for 'St John in the Wilderness.'
