Requesting on behalf of the Director that the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury allow 3000-3500 from the National Gallery Vote for 1881-82 (from the 6000+ under Subheading D that will remain on the 31st Mar) to be paid for the purchase, incidental and Agency costs of a picture for which negotiations are ongoing, and may not be concluded by that date, due to Italian government delays. Mentions that the Director has been in Italy with Strozzi of Ferrara for the negotiations
