Letter informing Burton of the safe removal of a Carracci picture from the
staircase wall. Also informing Burton of various letters which have been sent to
him in his absence, and details of the National Gallery’s annual expenses.
Eastlake also updates Burton on various happenings within the gallery, including
liason with the Office of Works and the continued absence of extra attendees for
Student’s days that were promised by the Treasury.
