Title

Letter to Mr Burton

Date

11 Oct 1879

Archive reference number

Description

Explains that a forwarding address was acquired from Burton's housekeeper as Mr Russell wanted his letter (enclosed with the letter being sent) forwarded as soon as was possible. Goes on to state that James (?) has died, and that Burton will presumably want to waste no time in recommending James' son for the position of Junior Porter at the Treasury. Finally states that there are no letters of importance waiting for the director on his return, other than one from Major R. Noel asking for the return of photographs featuring Professor Truckwald's drawings of church windows. Explains that Major Noel has been told the director is on the continent and will respond upon his return.
