Informing him that two pictures were bought for the Gallery from the Blenheim Collection: Raphael’s ‘Ansidei Madonna’ [‘The Madonna and Child with Saint John the Baptist and Saint Nicholas of Bari’] for £70,000 and Van Dyck’s ‘Equestrian Portrait of Charles I’ for £17,500, and that he is unable to inform regarding the disposal of pictures from the Blenheim Collection elsewhere.
