Description
The Van der Goes was omitted from the purchase because Burton felt it was not in good condition. Furthermore, the Trustees were unsure whether any funds would be granted by the Wheeler Bequest for the purchase of English landscapes. The Gallery would now like to purchase the Van der Goes, and asks Maitland to state a price up to 400 guineas.
