Administrative history

The register is entitled "Notes on various pictures" by Mündler and Wornum. Ralph Nicholson Wornum (1812-1877) succeeded General Thwaites as Keeper of the National Gallery and Secretary to the Board of Trustees in December 1854. He served in this post for twenty-two years until his death in 1877. Otto Mündler (1811-1870) served as the Gallery's Travelling Agent from 1855 to 1858.
