Correspondence between Jacques Daber of Galerie Daber (dealer), Cecil Gould and Michael Levey concerning the forthcoming sale of the Corot by the picture's owner, Tony Mayer. Arrangements for viewing the picture at the National Gallery; discussions as to the possible price, with the National Gallery asking if the proposed price might be lowered slightly, the picture is then offered for 475,000 francs. This price is agreed to by the Trustees and payment is confirmed in a letter from Daber dated 18 Feb 1977. Press release announcing acquisition. Papers from the Finance department recording purchase.
