Description

Correspondence between John Witt and Lord Radcliffe regarding Radcliffe's decision to beqeath Pissarro's 'Upper Norwood in Snow' and Degas' Dancers (3 Aug-14 Oct 1960). Letter from Radcliffe to Hendy in 1963 stating that the Pisarro will now be given to the Gallery in the following year rather than after the death of Radcliffe or his wife. Further correspondence between Hendy and Radcliffe discussing the new plan and other smaller pictures offered to the Gallery by Radcliffe on short term loan. Note from Hendy to Witt discussing the pictures offered by Radcliffe. Letter from Lord Robbins to Radcliffe officially accepting the Pisarro (3 Aug-11 Oct 1963). Correspondence to Radcliffe regarding the exhibition of the newly acquired picture, its provenance and the proposed loan of the work to the Hayward Gallery (5 Apr 1964-11 Oct 1972).
