National Gallery Departments

Communications & Media

This department promotes access to and appreciation of the collection by maintaining the gallery's public profile and communicating about the Gallery and its activities to the widest possible audience.

The Communications & Media Department incorporates the following departments:

New Media

The New Media team develops and maintains the Gallery's various multimedia resources, including the website, ArtStart, interactive facilities around the Gallery, videos, plasma screens and audio guide tours.

Marketing

The Marketing team plans and implements advertising campaigns to raise awareness of the Gallery, its collection and activities.

Visitor Services & Security (incl. Front of House)

The Visitor Services and Security Department includes Warding and Security, Front of House, Information and Reception. This is the largest department in the Gallery and is responsible for providing a welcoming, safe and secure environment for visitors.

Warding and Security manage all aspects of the security of the building and the Collection, and provide visitor services in the galleries.

Front of House and Information are responsible for the provision of information to visitors, ticketing for events and exhibitions and management of the theatres and conference rooms.

Reception staff work on the main Gallery switchboard and collect and distribute all post.

Information

The Information team (which also reports to the Visitor Services and Security Department) is responsible for the provision of information and assistance to visitors to the Gallery.

Press

The Press team is responsible for managing the Gallery's profile through the media.

Design

The Design team develops publicity and advertising material for the Gallery as well as working on the installation of temporary exhibitions.
