The National Gallery employs in the region of 600 people in a variety of roles. Visitors are familiar with our security and information staff who are the public face of the Gallery.

However, behind the scenes there are many other departments covering a wide range of functions, from curators, art handlers and picture conservators to education, exhibition and design experts.

The Gallery’s staff work across three main directorates.
